Gender Stereotype

Gender Stereotype

Lets buy her a pink
And gift him a blue
He drives a car
She mustn’t go far
A toy plane for him
A doll’s house for her
He mustn’t cry
Her tears never dry
He is treated with a difference
To her it is indifference
He is boundless and free
She is bound, waiting to get free.

  1. I believe gender stereotyping is a huge problem. Girls always get pink toys,. pink clothes, pink phone cases while boys get every color except pink. Girls are always forced to like pink and boys to like blue.

  3. I really like the last two lines of your poem. Girls and boys should be given equal freedom. Our society really needs to change their mentality and stop being biased.

  4. Your poem is amazing. It is true how women are not allowed to have as much freedom as males. You capture that perfectly with the second and third lines. Gender stereotypes exist all over the world and your poem speaks out against it.

  5. The poem states perfectly gender inequality. Every gender is able to do everything the same. The only difference is the amount of effort one puts into it.

  6. It is ironic how unknowingly we build the boundries for a boy and a girl right when they are born through all the subtle messages we send then and yet we wonder why is there so much of disparity in the number of female vs. male engineers ,factory workers or any other male dominated profession....

Thank you very much for the observations on the gender stereotypes. I find this poem very interesting, that our society would decide which is best for boy and girl. They shouldn't decide what we should have, and decide things that we enjoy having. A boy and girl can like anything, and it wouldn't change who they are as a person. People enjoy what they like.

  8. This poem perfectly states the message of gender inequality as boys are raised to be masculine and girls raised to be feminine. "He mustn't cry/Her tears never dry" This practice is used in most countries even here in the states. Hopefully together we can take action to change this concept of masculinity and feminism amongst the boys and girls in this world.

  9. I really love how this poem demonstrates the inequality women encounter in today's society. From the pink gifts to the doll houses and endless tears, it shows how women are treated differently from the start based on their gender. It shows that all women ask for is to be treated equally.

  10. Your poem is deep and shows the boundaries between girls and boys. Its empowering due to it in fighting for equality for girls and boys. Girls are restricted from certain things men are allowed and/ or expected to accomplish. Your poem is fighting against genders stereotype that exist in every day life.
